Laura Schuler plays the violin since many years and made a name for herself in the international jazz - and creative music scene (trio Esche and her quartet amongst others). Trough the alter ego Kate Birch she develops her language further in the direction of Artpop and Indietronica. During a longer stay in New York the project got its spirit and initial push. In the city she started the process of songwriting and studio production. She still returns to New York on a regular base to play and to fill up her mind and heart with experiences of the metropole live, which flow back into her music.
After numerous solo shows (CH, DE, SWE, DK) before the pandemic, Kate Birch got company by drummer and multi instrumentalist Clemens Kuratle. The musician from Cologne contributes his talent and knowledge to the music. Together they sound bigger as a duo.

Sich der Welt nackt stellen, ohne die emotionale Last von Mustern, denen wir entwachsen sind. Sich über das Ego hinaus zu bewegen und bedingungslose Liebe anzunehmen. Diese Bestrebungen bilden das Herzstück von Kate Birchs neuem Album The Fool, das im April 2022 bei dem Label Red Brick Chapel erschienen ist.
Laura Schuler spielt seit vielen Jahren Geige und hat sich in der internationalen Jazz- und Kreativmusikszene (u.a. Trio Esche und ihr Quartett) einen Namen gemacht. Unter dem Alter Ego Kate Birch entwickelt sie ihre Sprache weiter in Richtung Artpop und Indietronica. Während eines längeren Aufenthaltes in New York bekommt das Projekt seinen Geist und seine Initialzündung. In der Stadt begann sie den Prozess des Songwritings und der Studioproduktion. Nach wie vor kehrt sie regelmässig nach New York zurück, um zu spielen und ihren Geist und ihr Herz mit den Live-Erfahrungen der Metropole zu füllen, die in ihre Musik zurückfliessen.
Nach zahlreichen Solo-Shows (CH, DE, SWE, DK) vor der Pandemie bekam Kate Birch Gesellschaft von Schlagzeuger und Multiinstrumentalist Clemens Kuratle. Der Kölner Musiker bringt sein Talent und Wissen in die Musik ein. Zusammen klingen sie als Duo größer.
