    Stromboli
    30.12.

Stromboli is the project of Bologna-based musician & multi-instrumentalist Nico Pasquini, an outlet for experimental electronic music anchored in ambient and noise.

Described as a project which ‘defies what is traditionally associated with the ambient genre, through the creation of a beautiful, dark, psychedelic world’, Stromboli first appeared in 2015 with a widely acclaimed, eponymous debut EP on Maple Death Records, a release that elicited comparisons with first wave post-rock from renowned music critic Simon Reynolds.

Stromboli subsequently released the project’s debut album ‘VOLUME UNO’ in 2017, a journey into recondite ideas and challenging states of mind that placed isolationist noise, psychedelic music, and industrial soundscapes at the forefront. Utilizing the Revox A77, a tape machine used by Robert Fripp and Brian Eno on the seminal album 'No Pussyfooting', ‘VOLUME UNO’ was included in The Best Albums of the Year list compiled by The Quietus.
In 2020 Stromboli returned with the album ‘Ghosting’ on Oltrarno Recordings, a release influenced by Autechre and the soundtrack work of Jóhann Jóhannsson, specifically for the film 'Arrival'. This was followed in November 2021 by the EP ‘Exiles’ on London-based label Depths, a work inspired by existential thought and ideas of social exclusion.
